Recent News- FamilySearch Affiliate Library
The Fort Myers- Lee County Public Library is now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, which means that library patrons now have access to the microfilmed holdings of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Microfilm and microfiche may be rented and viewed at the library. For a list of the Frequently Asked Questions explaining this program, please click on link: FAQs_FamilySearch. The Fort Myers- Lee County Public Library is located at 2050 Central Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida.
Please also note that FamilySearch http://familysearch.org has a photoduplication service on their website. This is useful if you find that a record that has been indexed, but is not available online. You may be able to order a copy of the record from the Family History Library for a nominal fee. Collier County library card holders can access America’s Newspapers (NewsBank) and search major metros to small town newspapers, most from 1990′s to present, fully indexed and searchable. A great source for recent obituaries including the Naples Daily News (12/08/1995-current). You can CLICK HERE to visit the Library’s Newsbank sign-in page. Enter your library card number when prompted for barcode.

History of Incorporation and Non-Profit Status
On June 18, 2007 the Genealogical Society of Collier County filed articles of incorporation with the State of Florida as a non-profit corporation. The Genealogical Society of Collier County, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization.

HeritageQuest Online has over 25,000 local history and family genealogy books, PERSI, and the United States Census, with an index to certain years.
