Welcome to the Genealogical Society of Collier County’s Library Book Shelf List Project. To begin your search click on the link in the yellow highlighted area to access the database.

This project was completed by volunteers from the Genealogical Society of Collier County as a service to our members and all patrons of the Genealogy Room located in the reference section of the Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Avenue, Naples, Florida.

The project goal was to take inventory and catalog over 2,500 genealogy books and publications in the collection at the Naples Regional Library. The completed inventory list was printed and placed in an orange covered binder, which is located on top of the filing cabinet facing the entrance doors to the genealogy room.

The second goal of the project was to make the shelf list into a searchable online database. You can easily search the entire collection by using the drop down box and selecting one of the following categories: Total Database, State, Ethnic Group, Subject, Title, Author or Bookcase Number and search within each category by entering a keyword.  The Total Database is the default choice and you may enter any keyword.  The State, Ethnic Group and Subject fields have a preset keyword list to choose from, which will appear in the search box.

For your convenience we have also provided a HELP link on the bottom of the Search page. 

Examples of how to search:

Select: Total Database   (default)
Search Keyword: photo  (enter ANY keyword, if left blank it will return all books)
This will return books with that keyword in the title or author.
Example: Partial words like photo will also return photography, photographs, photographer, etc.

Select: State
Search Keyword: New York  (select state from list)
This will return books referencing New York State

Select: Ethnic Group
Search Keyword: GER  (select group from list)
This will return books about German research.

Select: Subject
Search Keyword: CEN  (select subject from list)
This will return books with census as the subject matter or in the title.

Select: Title
Search Keyword: Photograph  (it is best to limit it to one word not entire title)
This will return books with the word Photographs or Photography or Photographer in title.

Select: Author
Search Keyword: Taylor  (it is best to limit it to one word not entire name)
This will return books with all authors named Taylor.

Select: Bookcase Number
Search Keyword: 30   (choose between 1 and 30)
This will return all the books located in that bookcase.

To SEARCH again, click on the Try a new search  button at top of the results page.
