Genealogy Room Update

The Genealogy Room at the Collier County Public Library, Naples Regional Branch, 650 Central Avenue, is open on a LIMITED schedule. Our volunteers are on duty Monday – Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to provide assistance with the genealogy collection and computer databases. If patrons need help when volunteers or staff are unavailable, please contact Marie Overman, President of the Genealogical Society of Collier County, at tomoverman@hotmail.com for help and she will make arrangements to meet with patrons. Be sure to put “Genealogy Help” in the subject line.

Our seminar will provide an overview of how crime has impacted the lives of some of our ancestors throughout American history. This will include an overview of what constituted criminal activities from a historical context. The study guide that supplements the presentation will contain links and brief descriptions of the strange and unusual punishments in early American history. The discussion will include what types of records exist that can be searched for greater detail about criminal activity.
