Genealogy Room Update
The Genealogy Room at the Collier County Public Library, Naples Regional Branch, 650 Central Avenue, is now open on a LIMITED schedule. Our volunteers are on duty Monday – Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to provide assistance with the genealogy collection and computer databases. If patrons need help when volunteers or staff are unavailable, please contact Marie Overman, President of the Genealogical Society of Collier County, at tomoverman@hotmail.com for help and she will make arrangements to meet with them. Be sure to put “Genealogy Help” in the subject line.

Obituary Index Project
The Obituary Index Project was completed by volunteers from Genealogical Society of Collier County. The index contains over 59,000 entries of obituaries and death notices from Naples newspapers beginning in 1927 to January 2008, with a few years missing during WWII. Family History Books Surname Database
The Family History Books Surname Database is now being hosted on our website. Use our search form to find out if any of your surnames are mentioned in the family history books in the Genealogy Room at the Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Avenue. Members Surname Database Online
Members of the Genealogical Society of Collier County have submitted their family surnames to our Surname Project, which is now a searchable online database. Anyone may contact the submitter by clicking on the surname of interest. Members can also submit their surnames online for addition to the database. CLICK HERE to find out more.
FamilySearch Assistance
The Fort Myers Regional Library is a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, which means that library patrons can access the microfilmed holdings of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The Fort Myers Regional Library Genealogy Room is located at 1651 Lee Street, Fort Myers, Florida.

Visit the Genealogy Room in the reference area of the Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Avenue. Our volunteers are available to assist you, please refer to the Volunteer Schedule for their hours. CLICK HERE. The library has a subscription to HertiageQuest that can be accessed from the library or from home using your library card number. CLICK HERE to go directly to the library’s log in page. HeritageQuest Online has over 25,000 local history and family genealogy books, PERSI, and the United States Census, with an index to certain years. Ancestry.com’s Library Subscription is available on the Genealogy Room computers. Please sign in at the reference desk.
History of Incorporation and Non-Profit Status
On June 18, 2007 the Genealogical Society of Collier County filed articles of incorporation with the State of Florida as a non-profit corporation. The Genealogical Society of Collier County, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization.
GSCC Donations
The Genealogical Society of Collier County donations to the Friends of the Library for enhancement of the Genealogy Special Collection at the Naples Regional Library currently totals $30,250.00, in addition to the books the society purchases and donates to the public library each year.
